Google adsense allows maximum of six ad units per page… (three ad unit and three link units). You may think that placing six ads per page will have the most clicks but in fact it is not! If you place too many ads on a page then it is highly probable that the visitor will leave the site by seeing too many ads on their first glimpse on the site.
If they find the site fill with articles then they will stay reading the article or looking for other places on the site. Your purpose should be making the visitor to stay on the site for a longer time, if they stay longer then there is a higher chance that their eye will fall on the ad and will click it ! The best positions for putting the ads are on the top and on the side bar as shown on the screen shot. Some says that ads between posts generate higher clicks but I didn’t see any improvement in click when I placed my ad between the posts! I would recommend you to place two ads per page.
