Control Someone Else’s Desktop Remotely Through Browser!

With advancement of technology, clients can get their problem solved through remote desktop connection. They no longer have to take their PC to a computer service center. Not only it saves money, it also saves a lot of time for both parties.

There are loads of remote desktop assistance software; teamviewer, gotoassist, TightVNC and the list goes on and on. If you want to check the full list of remote desktop software you can get it from here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_remote_desktop_software

Most of the remote desktop software I have experienced are all desktop software and sometimes the client doesn’t have the software installed in their system, in that case they have to download the software and I have to guide them to set up the configuration which is a great hassle because there are client who are non-techie and can’t understand what I’m saying!

In a situation like this, a web based remote desktop application can be helpful for instant connection to client’s PC. Techinline is one such web based tool which provides easy remote access between two computers through the web. The way it works is pretty similar to other remote desktop connection software that I have used especially teamviewer.

It works in the following way:

  • The person who will provide assistance to client will log into techinline.net/expert
  • The remote client will then need to obtain a six digit ID from FixMe.it which will be given to assistance provider.
  • The remote assistance provider will put the ID obtained from the client on to “Client ID box” in techinline.net/expert
  • A secured connection will be made between two desktop and assistance provider will be able to fully control the client’s desktop remotely.
Techinline Remote Assistance Software

Beside controlling the client’s desktop remotely, Techinline also supports file transfer between two desktop and exchange of text messages between assistance provider and the client. Techinline offer two types of option through remote desktop connection :

  • Remote desktop view – A screen sharing mode where the assistance provider will only see client’s desktop screen but won’t be able to control it.
  • Remote desktop control – It involves viewing and controlling other desktop remotely.

If the assistance provider wants to show something from his desktop or wants the client to control his desktop then it can also be done through this web based app. I think this feature by which the client can view or control other desktop is missing on other remote desktop assistance software.
