History and development of WordPress
b2/cafelog is a little blogging paltform not very well known to us from where the WordPress blogging platform evolved. It was created by Michel Valdrighi and was active from 2001 to 2003.
After the shutdown of b2/cafelog, Michel Valdrighi joined Matt Mullenweg joined together. They modified the b2/cafeblog and created the most popular and dominating blogging platform, the WORDPRESS ! The first version of WordPress appeared on May 2003 and the name was suggested by Christine Selleck who is a friend of Mullenweg.
During the whole seven year WordPress won many awards, notably they won the best open source CMS award in 2009. WordPress is now used by 36 % of the blogger population leaving behind blogspot/blogger platform (powered by google) with a user of 16.7 % of the blogger population.
WordPress is going to release version 3 with lots of new and exiting features and I am eagerly waiting for it.
