How To Share Files In Windows 7 Without Password

Sharing files in windows XP is easy. When I shifted to windows 7, I was having difficulty in sharing files with my firends. My friends used to tell me that they were seeing my files password protected ! After some googling I finally solved the problem.

1. Click “Open Network and Sharing Center”

2. Click “Change advanced sharing settings”

3. Click “Home or Work” or “Public” depending on the profile you are using. Here I have selected “Home or Work” since this is my current profile.

4. Under the profile settings click “turn on network discovery” and “turn on file and printer sharing”

5. Below you will see the password protected sharing options. Here you have to select the “turn off password protected sharing”

6. Now comes the specific file sharing part. Go to properties for any of the folder you wish to share with your friends. Click “Sharing” on the properties window.

7. Click share as shown on the picture below:

8. Click “down” button and select “Everyone” and click “Add”

9. On the premission level, select the “Read” options only.

Read- Allows your friend to only view or copy the files to their computer

Wirte- Other users will have full ability to copy, delete, change the file.

If you select “Read/Write” options. Then your friends will have the ability to delete the file from your computer or edit the file ! So for safety select “Read” only
