Gadgets are useful because they are simple, light and free of-course. There are many wireless strength monitor software like netstumbler, ethereal, netsurveyor but they are too complex. If you want simple solution to monitor your wireless signal then windows gadgets would be first choice.
I tested many gadgets and most of them are useful but “Xirrus Wi-Fi Monitor Gadgets/Widget” is exceptional, it is different in a way that beside showing the wireless strength of the network currently connected to, they shows the available access point or network with their dBM, channel, frequency, network mode (802.11a/b/n) etc etc
